MANSFIELD, MA — The state’s public first hydrogen fuel station is coming to Mansfield and now has the approval of the board of selectmen.

Wednesday night, the board approved the station, to be located at the Stop and Shop gas station on Chauncy Street. The project from the supermarket and Air Liquide has received the proper approvals from the planning board and the zoning board of appeals.

Officials for the project said the experience will be like that of a gasoline dispenser. The station will have a detection system that will halt the system if any faults are detected.
