Mansfield, Norton Fire Rescue Respond To Snowy Rollover

Mansfield fire said a driver was taken to the emergency room with minor injuries after a vehicle rollover in the snow on Reservoir Street.

MANSFIELD, MA — The first hit from this week's one-two punch of snow caused slippery roads and at least one rollover in Mansfield Sunday night. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and use seat belts if they have to head out late Monday night and Tuesday morning when up to six more inches of snow is expected.

On Sunday night, a car flipped over during an accident on Reservoir Street near the height of the snowfall. Mansfield and Norton fire responded to the scene and found the vehicle in a swampy area off the side of the road with the driver suffering from minor injuries. Norton rescue personnel transported the driver to the Sturdy Emergency Room for evaluation.

Mansfield police also urged the use of seat belts — which is required by state law — after an overnight single-car accident on Route 95 in Mansfield Sunday morning claimed the life of a 25-year-old Brockton man who had been ejected from his vehicle.

"There is no excuse for not wearing seat belts," the Mansfield Fire Department posted on its Facebook page. "Cars in the last 10 years have increased in safety by leaps and bounds, but in order for the systems to work it is essential for the occupants to be seat belted in. Remember to drive safe, drive sober, and wear your seat belts this holiday season!”
