Mansfield Police Seek 2 Suspects In Overnight Break-In

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield police are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating two men suspected of breaking and entering a home on Stearns Avenue while the homeowners slept early Tuesday morning. Police said the suspects found keys in an unlocked vehicle in the driveway and stole items from the home while the homeowners remained asleep.

Police said one of the men has been identified as 54-year-old Kevin Gearhart, of Boston, and a warrant has been obtained for his arrest on felony larceny charges. The second man remains unidentified. Police have included a photo and surveillance video from inside the house in hopes that anyone in area who recognizes the men, or saw something suspicious, will come forward. Police said the suspects left on a four-door silver sedan.

"We are asking that our residents, especially in the Stearns Ave area, look around their homes and vehicles to determine if there were any additional crimes committed," Mansfield police requested.

Gearhart is described as a white man approximately 5-foot-10 in his 40s with blonde hair and average build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket with a hood, light-colored shirt under it, dark pants and white sneakers with black trim on the bottom. Video shows a scroll or tribal-type tattoo on his inner left wrist. It is possible the tattoo extends upward on the underside of his forearm.

The second suspect is a black man approximately 6 feet tall and in his 30s. He appears to have slight facial hair and was wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket with buttons, dark pants and a dark stocking-type hat, with dark sneakers that had white trim on the bottom.

Those with any information on either suspect is asked to call 508-261-7300 and press option 8 to speak with front desk personnel. Mansfield police remind residents and their visitors to lock cars at all time and never leave valuables inside unattended vehicles.
