Mansfield Reinstates Plastic Bag Ban
With the state order prohibiting the use of reusable bags amid the coronavirus lifted, the town ordinance is back in effect.
MANSFIELD, MA — Single-use plastic bags are once again banned in Mansfield.
The town has reinstated the prohibition on the bags after Public Health Commissioner Dr. Monica Bharel lifted the ban on reusable bags in the state amid the coronavirus crisis.
In Mansfield, the Plastic Waste Reduction by-law prohibits the use of thin-film single-use plastic bags. Businesses are required to abide by the bylaw effective this week.

Residents who see a business violating this by-law are encouraged to contact the Mansfield Heath Department at health@mansfield.com. The Health Department will then work with the retailer directly.
