Mansfield Snowstorm: What You Need To Know

This is not what people expected for the start of spring.

MANSFIELD, MA — Springtime is here and what better way to celebrate than with a reminder that the end of winter is still lingering around?

March 20 may be the start of a new season but the area is preparing for the fourth major snowstorm of March. With snow on the way, the National Weather Service has issued a 24-hour winter storm warning starting Wednesday at 8 a.m.

Mansfield residents can expect the first flakes to fall Wednesday night and for the storm to continue until early Thursday morning. By the time it's all said and done, there could be a few inches of snow on the ground. The NWS's expected snowfall is in the range of 6 to 8 inches, which is lower than the original forecast of up to a foot of snow

Wind will be a factor, but not as severe as past storms, with the NWS predicting gusts of 34 mph.

All town offices will have an one-hour delay Wednesday.

Trash Pickup

Trash pickup will operate on a normal schedule. Residents are asked to wait until the morning to place barrels at the street to help snow removal operations.

Parking Ban

A town-wide parking ban will be in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday until at least 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Don't Use Candles

The Mansfield Fire Department asks residents to use battery operated lights instead of candles if tehre is a power outage.

Reports of snow related issues, road flooding, basement flooding, and downed trees should be directed to the DPW. Power outages should be reported to Mansfield Electric and not the police department.
