Mansfield Storm Update: Copeland Drive Open Again

The snow is coming down and it's not expected to let up anytime soon.

MANSFIELD, MA — The snow is fell, the wind blew, and there were challenges for Mansfield.

As of 12:30 p.m., there were no major outages in Mansfield and a few individual services outages, according to the town's storm update. That changed by 2:20 p.m., when a broken utility pole fell on a high voltage power line over train tracks and caused a widespread outage. Power has since been restored.

Another outrage struck the area around Coach Road, Lantern Lane, Blueberry Lane, Village Road, and High Street. Power has since been restored.

The lack of power meant that the pumps that keep water from building up under the Copeland Drive underpass aren't working. The street was been closed from the West Street intersection to the Fowler Street intersection for a period of time Tuesday night and is now open.

Drivers were advised to stay off the roads in order to allow the DPW to plow. Mansfield Police Chief Ronald Sellon tweeted that a police cruiser was struck by a driver.
