Mansfield Wrestling Wins First D1 South Sectional Title

Four wrestlers took home individual championships during a successful weekend on the mats.

MANSFIELD, — Four first place finishes led the way for the Mansfield wrestling team as the Hornets won their first MIAA Division 1 South Sectional championship in school history.

The Hornets led the field with 184 points. BC High finished second with 176.5 points and Brockton rounded out the top three with 161.5 points.

Individual wins for Mansfield came from Vinnie Holmes at 182 pounds, Jayden Curley at 162 pounds, George Glaropoulos at 152 pounds and CJ Glaropoulos at 138 pounds. Also placing for Mansfield were Noah Price (4th, 106 pounds), Antonios Sevastos (2nd, 113 pounds), Will Stratton (2nd, 132 pounds), Aidan Archambault (3rd, 170 pounds), and Hunter Shea (6th, 220 pounds).

The Hornets return to action Feb. 16 and 17 at the Division 1 State meet.
