State Rep. Jay Barrows Hosting 'Support the Troops Day'
Hero Helpers of America founders and Mansfield residents Amanda Dickerman and Lauren Eliopoulos will receive a donation from State Rep. Jay Barrows at Saturday's event.

State Representative Jay Barrows is hosting the first event for Hero Helpers of America, an organization founded by Mansfield residents Amanda Dickerman and Lauren Eliopoulos that "strives to supply the servicemen and women of today’s military with letters from home as well as care packages of essentials to let them know of our support," according to a statement from Barrows' office.
The event, this Saturday at Barrows Insurance agency, 215 North Main Street will kick off at 11 a.m. when Barrows presents Dickerman and Eliopoulos with a donation. Guests are invited to make donations for care packages for troopers and there will be letter writing stations to send notes of support to local troops serving around the country and overseas.
“I am so overjoyed with the outpouring support of our community for a cause so close to my heart. I cannot thank Mr. Barrows enough for this opportunity to meet with locals on Saturday” Eliopoulos said in the statement.
"I truly am so grateful for this opportunity to share our efforts with the community we live in," said Dickerman in the statement. "So many of us know what it’s like to miss someone who is deployed, but we too often forget to realize that our soldiers miss us too. We need to show them that we are thinking of them."
