Traffic Advisory: Out Colony Way Roadwork, Other Towns Roads Soon

Here's a schedule for roadwork in Mansfield for the next few weeks.

MANSFIELD, MA — Roadwork on Old Colony Way starts on Wednesday, the department of public works announced. Construction on Park Street, Park Avenue and Linden Streets also begins later this month.

Roadwork is expected to occur over several phases. Dates listed are weather dependent. The roadwork schedules can be found below:

Old Colony Way

  • Oct. 26 - All vehicles must be removed from the East Side of the street by 7 a.m. Shoulders on the east side of the road will be grubbed. Saw-cutting between the town’s right-of-way and private property will begin.
  • Oct. 29 - Phase 2 - The existing roadway pavement will be pulverized, followed by grading and finally paving a new base course of pavement. During this work and up until the base paving is complete, the road will be gravel and dusty so please use caution leaving windows open.
  • Nov. 8 - Re-pavement is expected to start. All vehicles should be removed from Old Colony way between the hours of 6 a.m., and 6 p.m. Installation of new curbing and a raised bike path will begin immediately following base paving.

Police Officers will be stationed by the work sites. If you have any questions about driving in or around the area, please make contact with the officer before proceeding into or out of the area.

Oct. 31 - Finishing of re-pavement work is expected with crews coming in at 6 a.m., and the department of public works hoping all re-pavement will be done by 6 p.m.

During the roadwork, each of the three streets will be closed to traffic. If you need to leave your property in a vehicle please plan accordingly and expect delays. There will be no parking allowed on the roadway.

When it is safe to travel on each road, police will open the road to traffic. The tentative order of paving will be Park Street, Park Avenue, then Linden Street.

According to the department of public works, construction should have a minimal impact on trick-or-treating and other Halloween activities.
