West Nile Virus Found In Mansfield Mosquitoes
Health officials are advising residents to take precautions.

MANSFIELD, MA – Mosquitoes in Mansfield have tested positive for the West Nile Virus, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Mansfield Health Department. A release from the heath department indicates that the virus was found in culex pipiens mosquito, which feeds off of birds and occasionally mammals, making the risk of acquiring the West Nile Virus still low.
"While the Mansfield Health Department continues to work closely with the MDPH and other agencies, locally we are advising residents to reduce exposure to mosquitoes by following the previously identified precautions," a release from the health department reads.
