Xfinity Center 2018 Concert Season May Be Larger Than Last Year

The venue's GM told the selectmen that he thinks this year will have more activity than last year's season.

MANSFIELD, MA — The Xfinity Center is aiming to host more musical acts than they did during last year’s season.

The amphitheater’s General Manager Jeff Mann told the selectmen Wednesday night that four shows have been announced and he is optimistic that there will be around 30 shows in Mansfield. Last year saw a down season of 24 shows, with many of the traditional touring bands taking a break.

Mann said he is hoping to meet with some local hotels, telling the board he is planning to give them key dates so they can be prepared for major shows.

On the license front, Mann, Mansfield Police Chief Ron Sellon, and Mansfield Fire Chief Neal Boldrighini all agree that they are close to finalizing the entertainment license for 2018.

“I think it’s great we’re here talking about it and getting it done sooner rather than later,” Selectman Jess Aptowitz said.

Once work on the license is completed, it must be submitted to the selectmen for final approval.
