A Look Back at Race Week Awards

A video presentation of the Norm Cressy Award

Here is a video of the Sperry Top-Sider Nood Regatta award ceremony on Sunday at the Boston Yacht Club and the presentation of the Norm Cressy Award.

Named after the local sailing legend, Norm Cressy, the award went to Ben Richardson of Gloucester.

Ben, who took first place in the Rhodes 19 Class, also won the coveted spittoon trophy.

The overall winner was Skip Shumway of Rochester, NY. The Marblehead sailing races started in 1889 making it one of the oldest if not the oldest sailing regatta in the country.

The first half of the week was Junior Marblehead Race Week, featuring racers under 21 years old.

The senior Marblehead regatta drew 1,000 sailors and 159 boats in 11 classes. The junior races drew almost twice as many boats as the senior circuit.
