MARBLEHEAD, MA — A couple found a racist note taped to their car after taking a walk on a Marblehead beach Wednesday, according to a report they filed with police.

The couple said they heard a driver speed off when they returned to their parked car at the Front Street turnaround. They then found a note "This is Truth STOP BLACK LIES matter Goerge Soros NEW WORLD ORDER Stop Illegal Immigration," which is a reference to what the Anti-Defamation League says is a right-wing conspiracy theory claiming a socialist order has already taken over most of the planet and is working to take over the United States.

According to Wicked Local Marblehead, which first reported this story, the officer who took the report initially told the couple there was no direct physical threat in the message. The husband said he disagreed, noting the reference to New World Order was "highly threatening" and that the incident needed to be recorded because "the people of Marblehead need to know that this is going on in their town."

The note comes a month after an Asian teenager told police that a woman yelled at her to "go back home" and told her the coronavirus was her fault as she walked along West Shore Drive. The adult woman also gave the teenager the finger.
