An Attempted Break-in and Thefts on Ocean Avenue

The following information came from the Marblehead Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Sept. 30

  • 8:56 a.m., a caller reported that his parked vehicle was side-swiped in the Village Plaza parking lot. He asked police to review a video camera from a nearby business. Police said they would do so.
  • 9:13 a.m., a caller reported issues with a Green Street landlord.
  • 12:14 p.m., a caller reported a motorist was texting while driving.
  • 12:24 p.m., a Wharf Path party fell and was bleeding from the head. The person was transported to the hospital.
  • 2 p.m., a caller said that a school kid was sticking his head or hands in her mail slot at her house: "(The caller) said twice now a child leaving the Gerry School has run up to her house and sticks his hand or face in her mail slot. (The person ) is concerned because she has a dog and is in fear the dog may snap at the child if provoked enough. (The person) works from home and will watch out the window to try to identify the child. She said it has happened twice with in the past two weeks and today at 2:50. Request that an officer be in the area as school gets out. (The caller) believes the child walks home towards Mugford St."
  • 6:11 p.m., an attempted break-in was reported at Ocean Avenue. A surfboard and golf clubs were stolen from the backyard.
  • 7:22 p.m., a Pitman Road caller received a package in the mail and believes it is part of a Craigslist scam and that money laundering is going on.
