Boy Scouts of America to Honor Janet Fitch Parker and Barry Weed

The Boy Scouts invite the community to celebrate Janet and Barry at the "Champions of Character Breakfast." Details are below.

Yankee Clipper Council of The Boy Scouts of America will honor Janet Fitch Parker and Barry Weed as “Champions of Character” in recognition of their exemplification of the ideals and values of The Scout Oath and The Scout Law at a recognition breakfast on Wednesday, December 3, 7 to 8 a.m. at The Masonic Building, 62 Pleasant Street in Marblehead.


Parker is the Director of The Marblehead Food Pantry, an organization she has served for 20 years. The Food Pantry, which provides services to about 60 people each week, serves 200 Marblehead households annually, some of whom use the services occasionally and some who use the services weekly. She is also the Music Director of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, a position she has held for 40 years, and she is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.


Weed is the Past President of National Grand Bank, a 50-year member of Philanthropic Lodge F. & A.M. in Marblehead, Past Treasurer of The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor, Past Treasurer of the Marblehead Counseling Center, member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Past Treasurer of the Marblehead / Swampscott YMCA, and past director and finance committee member of the Marblehead-Swampscott VNA.

The breakfast is complimentary. Guests will be invited to make a contribution in celebration of the honorees to help support the programs of The Boy Scouts of America.


Yankee Clipper Council serves over 6,900 youth and 3,000 volunteers in 52 communities in northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire. Scout units in Marblehead include Cub Scout Pack 11 and Boy Scout Troop 11 chartered to St. Stephen’s Methodist Church and Cub Scout Pack 79 and Boy Scout Troop 79 chartered to The Clifton Lutheran Church and Venture Crew 1776 chartered to the Marblehead Recreation and Park Department.
