Free Concert on the Beach Tuesday at Devereux

A snapshot of things going on today, Tuesday, Aug. 6, in Marblehead.

1. Free concert: The Jessica Prouty Band will perform at Devereux Beach Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 5:30 pm. The concert is free and open to the public.   

“I have seen this band perform on a number of occasions, they are top notch and great role models for today’s youth. We are extremely excited to have them perform and talk to our kids," said Jim Sullivan, Marblehead's recreation supervisor.

Three members of the Jessica Prouty Band currently attend or attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. They will be joined on Tuesday by Seth Rosenbloom, distinguished guitarist, who has also taught on the world-famous Guitar Summit. The band will also be playing Topsfield Fair on Saturday Oct. 6th at 8 pm on the Trianon Stage. Jessica Prouty graduated from Marblehead High School and was in theater productions and Chorus while she was there. Rain date for the beach concert is Wednesday, Aug. 7th.

4. Town Notes: 

The Marblehead Historical Commission is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Abbot Hall and take up Abbot Hall preservation and grants as well as other preservation items.

5. Trails and Sails: The annual Trails and Sails event will return to Essex County for two weekends this September. On Thursday, the website listing all the events for the two weekends will be launched online.  Trails and Sails, scheduled for Sept. 20-22 andSept. 27-29, is designed to “celebrate our region’s distinctive history, breathtaking landscapes and hidden gems.”
