Marblehead Detours Make Stretch An Area To 'Avoid' Wednesday

Stump grinding, sidewalk paving and gas main work add up to a tough travel day in the vicinity of Humphrey Street.

MARBLEHEAD, MA —Wednesday is shaping up as a busy day that could make for a very slow go for drivers in the area of Humphrey Street.

Starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, Marblehead police said Tedesco Street will be closed between Maple and Humphrey streets to Charlotte and Longview Drive so the highway department can grind stumps and pave the sidewalks where stumps are being removed.

Gas main work will also continue on Humphrey Street between Charlotte and Brookhouse Drive where there will be additional detours "to complicate matters," police said.

"There will be officers at both locations to assist navigating through the area," police said. "The plan for Tedesco is to have it only blocked for the morning while the work is done."

Humphrey Street is expected to be blocked until around 4 p.m.
