Marblehead Fourth Of July 2017 Street Closures

Plan your routes ahead of time to avoid traffic.

MARBLEHEAD, MA – The Fourth of July is nearly upon us, and preparations for various events are in full swing in Marblehead. For residents and people who plan to visit town, here are the planned road closures, per the town website.

Sunday, July 2, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Festival of Arts
- Washington Street will be closed between Rockaway and State streets.
- No parking will be allowed on Washington Street between Rockaway and State streets.
- Pleasant Street will be closed between Rockaway and Washington streets.

Tuesday, July 4, 9 a.m., Horribles Parade (rain date July 9)
- Pleasant Street will be closed between Spring and Washington streets.
- Spring Street will become one way from Pleasant Street to Sewall Street.
- Essex Street will be closed during the staging and moving of the parade.

Tuesday, July 4, 7 p.m., Fireworks (rain date July 5)
- Front Street will be closed to all traffic.
- No parking between Franklin Street and Fort Sewall Lane.
- Franklin Street will become one way from Front Street to Washington Street.
- Washington Street will become one way from Franklin Street to State Street.

After the fireworks
- Traffic leaving the beach parking lot will only be allowed to turn left or right at the intersection of Ocean and Atlantic Avenues.
- Front Street will be closed at State Street.
- State Street will become one way from Front Street to Washington Street.
- All traffic from the area between State Street and Franklin Street, as well as Pond Street, will be directed along Mugford Street and Green Street to West Shore Drive.
