Marblehead Issues 36 Tickets During First Snow Emergency
Town Administrator Jason Silva said residents "still have a little work to do" to comply with new snow parking regulations.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead's new snow emergency parking regulations got a test with a relatively modest snowstorm Saturday night.
The result: Pass, but Needs Improvement.
Marblehead Town Administrator Jason Silva said on Monday that the town issued 36 tickets this weekend for those in violation of the parking ban.

"On one hand, we applaud everyone who did as they were asked," Silva said. "On the other hand, we still have a little work to do. If we had to tow 36 cars in a bigger storm event, it would take a considerable amount of time."
The Board of Selectmen officially suspended the bylaw prohibiting overnight parking and instituted a trial snow emergency policy in October. The plan, which was approved at Marblehead town meeting earlier that month, is being putting in place in a trial basis for one year.
