Monday, July 29
The Gerry 5 Function Hall, 210 Beacon St., Marblehead, will host a presentation at 7 p.m. on Social Security and what you need to know to maximize your retirement benefits. The presentation will cover items including the following:

  • 5 factors to consider when deciding when to apply for 
    benefits
  • When it makes sense to delay benefits — and when it does 
    not
  • Why you should always check your earnings record for 
    accuracy

Wednesday, July 31
The Marblehead Task Force Against Discrimination will meet at 7 p.m. at the Marblehead Community Center in the Craft Room at 10 Humphrey St. Items up for  discussion include the group's 25th anniversary celebration in 2014. For a full list of items see the agenda.

Also on Wednesday the Marblehead School Committee will meet in their day-long, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., retreat in the library at Marblehead Veterans Middle School at 217 Pleasant St. The committee members agenda includes Massachusetts Association of School Committees training and meeting the new high school principal, Layne Millington.
 
Thursday, Aug. 1
The Marblehead Little Theatre at 12 School St. will present the final week of performances of the romantic musical The Fantasticks, Aug. 1-4, with nightly shows at 7:30 and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. For tickets visit their website.

Saturday, Aug. 3
Peak summer produce is starring at the Marblehead Farmers Market.  The market is open from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marblehead Veterans Middle School at 217 Pleasant St., accessible from Vine Street.
