Marblehead Nonprofit Looks To SPUR Donations This Season
Holiday Cheer Drive seeks to put together "wishlist" packages for children and homeless adults in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Those on the North Shore checking their shopping list twice this holiday season are asked to consider checking off gifts for children and adult homeless in need.
The Marblehead-based nonprofit SPUR has launched its sixth annual Holiday Cheer Drive this week aimed at providing winter essentials and meaningful gifts to more than 600 children and adults facing homelessness in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem and Swampscott.
SPUR has a new website this year designed at making sponsoring someone in need easier, safer and more accessible amid the coronavirus health crisis. Shoppers are asked to choose a wishlist that includes something the recipient wants, something they need, something to wear and something to read.

"As many families are dealing with unforeseen challenges through the pandemic we have seen a greater need for the support the Holiday Cheer Drive provides than ever before," SPUR Director of Volunteer Engagement Bryan Lamoreau said. "The SPUR Holiday Cheer Drive is about more than a gift — it's about making a difference in the lives of neighbors in our community."
Wishlists are available this week with shoppers asked to complete their purchases and deliver them to the SPUR office by Dec. 7.

SPUR works with each individual child to find out what that child wants, needs, will wear and would read as a way to help sponsors get a sense of the child, shop easily and be sure to get gifts that are most appreciated and helpful.
