Marblehead Police logs: "National Grid" Scam Calls Reported

MARBLEHEAD, MA - The following are excerpts from the Marblehead Police Department Logs for Thursday, Dec. 14.

Thursday, Dec. 14

An officer located a lost cell phone on Village Street.

A caller reported a motor vehicle blocking Sunset Road, making it impassable.

A caller reported receiving a scam call from someone pretending to be from National Grid. The victim reported that the caller threatened to shut of their electricity unless they were given money.

Glover Property Management, located on Brackett Street reported receiving a call about their gas and electric being shut off. The scam call came from 855-803-1332. According to police, the caller asked the victim to drive to a specific location to drop off the cash.

A Corinthian Lane resident reported receiving a scam call from a woman who said she was from National Grid stating he owes $450 in bills.

A caller reported she passed an old man walking on Pleasant Street, who seemed confused and in need of help.

A caller reported a minor fender bender in which the other party sped away.

A caller reported that someone from Lynn took her purse and ducked into a building on Pleasant Street. The victim told police a man took her ID and Social Security card and would not give them back.

A Batchelder Road resident reported two UPS packages had gone missing from their home.

A Hines Court resident called police to complain about the same car parking in front of her home during the winter parking ban.

A caller reported someone hit a utility pole in front of his house on Pinecliff Road and drove off afterward.
