Marblehead 'Revenge Porn' Sex Offender Back In Jail

MARBLEHEAD, MA — For the second time since November, a convicted sex offender from Marblehead is back in jail for violating terms of his release.

Reid Jones, 50, is accused of missing meetings with his probation officer and skipping sex offender and substance abuse treatment sessions. On Thursday, Salem Superior Court Judge Thomas Drechsler ordered Jones to be held in custody until a hearing scheduled for June 12.

Jones was released from prison in February 2019 after serving a five-to-seven-year prison sentence after being convicted of charges of rape, indecent assault and battery, and photographing an unsuspecting person in the nude.

Jones was one of the first people convicted in a "revenge porn" prosecution. In 2013, he created a Facebook profile using the name of a woman he sexually assaulted in 2010 and then posted photos of the assault. Jones admitted to assaulting the woman and taking the photos of her after she passed out at a dinner party of a mutual friend.

Jones is serving five years probation for identity fraud. In November, he was sent to jail for six days after skipping a court-ordered treatment session to celebrate his 50th birthday.
