Marblehead Students Honored At Bryant, Clarkson, Holy Cross, UNH

These Marblehead students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Several Marblehead students were among those who recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire.

Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.85-4.0, students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.65-3.84 and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, a traditional, in-person commencement ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.

Margaret Potvin graduated with a Masters's of Education degree in elementary education.

Chloe Ferrucci graduated with a BS degree in hotel & hospitality management.

Lauren Perry graduated with a BS degree in athletic training.

Sean Collins graduated cum laude with a BS degree in biology.

Sarah Damon graduated cum laude with a BS degree in health management and policy.

Vanessa Roads graduated cum laude with a BS degree in homeland security.

Benjamin Farrar graduated with a BS degree in business administration and finance.

William McHugh graduated with a BS degree in business administration and marketing.

Kaelyn Attridge graduated with a BA degree in business applications.

Holy Cross celebrated nearly 750 bachelor of arts degree candidates at its 175th commencement held in person on May 21 on the college's Fitton Field.

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a career diplomat and representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, delivered this year's address virtually to the class of 2021 and received an honorary degree.

"Class of 2021: I have hope — I have light in my eyes — because of you," Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield told the graduates. "When I think of your promise, your potential, I swell with pride. With your Holy Cross mentors and role models by your side, I believe you will become men and women for others. I trust you will go where you are needed. And graduates, I know you will keep hope alive."

Garret Keough, of Marblehead, graduated magna cum laude.

Elizabeth Timmons, of Marblehead, also graduated, along with William Turbidy, of Marblehead.

Clarkson University awarded nearly 750 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students from 26 states, 19 countries and 52 New York state counties at its spring 2021 commencement in May. This ceremony also recognized the 280 August and December 2020 graduates.

Austin Scott Gleim, of Marblehead, received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering.

John Charles Garrett of Marblehead, received a bachelor of science with great distinction in electrical engineering, sustain energy sys eng minor, mathematics minor, project management minor.

The College of Charleston recently awarded undergraduate and graduate degrees during spring 2020 commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies were postponed a year because of the coronavirus health crisis.

Reilly O'Grady, of Marblehead, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in historic preservation and community planning from the College of Charleston.

Grace Cunningham, of Marblehead, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the College of Charleston.

At Bryant University's 158th Commencement ceremonies on May 22, 840 graduates of the class of 2021 and their families and guests gathered on campus to celebrate earning a Bryant degree.

Eli Merrill, of Marblehead, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business administration degree in finance.

"There has probably never been a graduating class more deserving of a Commencement and celebration than the Class of 2021," said Bryant President Ross Gittell. "You have earned your degree under extraordinary circumstances. You successfully responded to unprecedented challenges."

On May 12, Pingree School inducted the newest members of the Cum Laude Society, a national organization that recognizes academic excellence, justice, and honor. At the Cum Laude assembly, speaker alumna Erin Thomassen reminded attendees to balance wonder and awe about the future-aspirations about who we will become and our greater purpose-with staying present in the now, even during the messy or mundane moments.

The inductees from Marblehead were Eva Leikikh and Carter Segal.

Shea Delehaunty, of Marblehead, was honored at Union College's annual Prize Day celebration.

Students were honored for achievement in academics, research, service and governance. Delehaunty, a member of the Class of 2021, was honored with the Andrew W. Archibald (1872) Prize, Mrs. Edwin L. Rich Prize and the Horatio G. Warner (1826) Prize.

For the second straight spring, the pandemic forced the Prize Day ceremony to be a virtual affair. Union students were honored for their achievements in academics, research, service and governance. A total of 116 prizes were awarded.

The University of Utah congratulated more than 8,700 students who were named to the spring 2021 Dean's List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Marblehead students named to the Dean's List include Jared Neuss and Griffin Tubridy. Neuss is majoring in finance and Tubridy is majoring in information systems.
