Marblehead Students Honored At Gettysburg, St. Lawrence, FSU
These Marblehead students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — St. Lawrence University coaches recently nominated 62 students into the institution's chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society, recognizing outstanding college student-athletes who excel in the classroom, in their sport, and in the community.
Charles Hutchinson, of Marblehead, is a member of the Class of 2022 and is majoring in economics. Hutchinson attended Holderness School and is a member of the men's lacrosse team at St. Lawrence University.
Benjamin Murtagh, of Marblehead, is a member of the Class of 2022 and is majoring in economics and business in the liberal arts. Murtagh attended The Governor's Academy and is also a member of the men's lacrosse team.

Students are nominated for inclusion in this society by their head coaches for their contributions to their team, for their moral character, and for having achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.
Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The honor society is the first and only academic fraternity that specifically recognizes four-year collegiate student-athletes for their athletic and academic successes.

Hannah Crowley, of Marblehead, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean's Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the fall 2020 semester.
Students with a quality-point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the College's Dean's Honor List.
Alexander Hooper, of Marblehead, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
Hooper was initiated at Framingham State University.
Hooper is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.
Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
Phi Kappa Phi's mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."
