Marblehead Sustainability Fair on tap this Saturday
Free event to feature family-friendly activities, entertainment, and speakers

Sustainable Marblehead, a community organization working to address climate change at a local level, is hosting its first community-wide Sustainability Fair this Saturday, October 6, from 10-2 at the Marblehead Community Charter Public School at 17 Lime Street. More information about the Fair is available at www.sustainablemarblehead.org. The event is free, and all area residents and families are invited to attend.
In partnership with MASS CLEAN DRIVE and the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC), fairgoers will have an opportunity to test-drive a variety of electric cars and bikes. Please bring a valid license to participate.

10-10:25 am: Brian Helmuth of Northeastern’s Marine Science Center will discuss how climate change is likely to affect coastal communities like Marblehead.
10:30-10:55 am: John Livermore, Northeast Director of The Center for Sustainable Energy, will discuss how to reduce your home's carbon footprint.

11-11:25 am: Stand-up comedian Jackson Gillman will perform “Nature in Action, Story & Song”.
11:30-11:55 am: State Representative Lori Ehrlich will talk about what bills are being considered by the Massachusetts Legislature to address climate change and promote sustainability.
12 noon-12:25 pm: The Marblehead High School acappella choir will perform followed by an awards presentation recognizing student winners of Sustainable Marblehead's Poster Contest.
12:30:12:55 pm: Local singer/songwriter Amanda Maffei will perform “Songs and Stories for Sustainable People”.
1-2 pm: Marblehead town officials will talk about what they’re doing to create a more sustainable community. Speakers will include Public Health Director Andrew Petty, Light Department General Manager Joe Kowalik, and Water and Sewer Superintendent Amy McHugh.
The Fair will include an extensive "Education Alive" area featuring hands-on activities for kids and an Advocates Area where local vendors and organizations that promote sustainable living will have tables. There will also be a silent auction and a White Elephant table of gently used items. All proceeds will support Sustainable Marblehead's work.
