Marblehead's Jack Garrett Honored With Fulbright Research Award
The Marblehead High and Clarkson University alum will complete his graduate work in electrical engineering at LUT University in Finland.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Jack Garrett was named one of three U.S. Student Study/Research Award recipients at Clarkson University as the Marblehead High alumnus looks to continue his graduate work in electrical engineering at LUT University in Finland.
The awards are given by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Garrett was one of about 2,100 students nationwide to receive the honor and scholarship assistance to study, research or teach abroad. Winners were selected based on their academic and professional achievements, as well as their record of service and leadership potential for their respective fields.

Garrett graduated from Clarkson this spring with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering with minors in sustainable energy systems engineering, mathematics and project management.
Garrett's work includes proposing better efficiency for the electrical grid and reliability from distributed energy resources to provide the cleanest and more efficient power.

He is pursuing a Master's in Technology in electrical engineering, with a specialty in controls and automation to meet the grid's demands.
He will attend the two-year program in Lappeenranta, Finland where he will "work to combat climate change on the global front lines of renewable energy engineering."
