Marblehead's Jim Laramie Named A State Crossing Guard Of The Year
Laramie was named an honorable mention as part of the Safe Routes to School program.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead's Jim Laramie was recently recognized as one of the Safe Routes to School program's Crossing Guards of the Year.
Laramie named an honorable mention in the program's list of those celebrated.
"Our crossing guards play a vital role in getting the children to school safely, always with a smile on their faces. As this school year is coming to an end, we would like to thank all of our crossing guards for your dedication to the safety of our students," Marblehead police said. "We often have openings for crossing guards, so please feel free to stop by the police station for an application for the fall."

Laramie was recognized for his personal touch in keeping a "birthday book" in remembering children's birthdays, how he regularly shovels snows from sidewalks and walkways, is always up for a chat while you wait to cross the street, and watches out for compliance and then shares his observations with police.
