Marblehead's Seaside Park Vandalized A 4th Time: Police

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying those responsible for the latest round of graffiti spraying and vandalism at the park.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — For the fourth time since the beginning of the year Marblehead police said they are investigating vandalism or graffiti on the wooded fitness trails at Seaside Park.

Police said the latest damage included "significant spray painting on trees, rocks, various pieces of playground equipment, a shed and one of the fitness boards."

Police said a Marblehead Parks & Recreation employee discovered the damage and that it occurred sometime since Tuesday morning.

"Seaside Park, and in particular the wooded fitness trails that are bordered by Bubier Road and Chestnut Street, have once again been victimized by one or more people with nothing better do do than damage and destroy taxpayer property," Marblehead police said.

Police said there have been three graffiti incidents and four incidents of vandalism around the property and that this time someone dragged a table and chairs into the woods.

"This is costing the town in time, labor and materials to remove and/or fix the damage," police said.

Anyone with information that might help identify the vandals is asked to contact police at 781-631-1212.

Those who use the park are also asked to keep an eye out for any "trouble" and contact Marblehead police if you see something unusual or suspicious.

"Don't be surprised to see an officer periodically wandering in the woods as well," police said of increased patrols. "Any help would be appreciated."
