Marblehead Coronavirus: Town Has First Presumptive Positive Cases

Marblehead health officials said they will not announce any additional cases now that the coronavirus has been found in the community.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The town said Wednesday that it has its first presumed case of coronavirus.

A "presumptive positive" designation means the person tested positive at the state lab, but has'the test has not been confirmed by Centers for Disease Control.

Health Director Andrew Petty said in a statement that the town was conducting "extensive contact tracing" on the resident. The person's identity is not being released because of health privacy rules.

"Since the risk level throughout Massachusetts is rising and COVID-19 is now in our community, we will not be announcing any more cases of COVID-19 in the community," Petty said.
