Leonidas V. Chalas, 90, of Marblehead, MA passed away Friday, Sept. 20

Leonidas V. Chalas, 90, of Marblehead, MA passed away Friday, September 20th following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Leo was born in Manchester, NH May 11, 1923, the son of Vasilios and Eugenia (Argeropoulos) Chalas. He attended area schools and obtained an Associate's degree in business. In 1942 Leo was called to duty with United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He was stationed in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1945. Leo was married in 1956 and spent his working years as Vice President of accounting and finance with Stocker & Yale.

Leo was a loving, caring, unselfish man whose attributes are too numerous to count. He had a deep sense of family and enjoyed traveling with his wife.

Leo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Wahl) Chalas and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and –nephews and great-grand-nieces and –nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by all of his 9 brothers and sisters.

The family will receive visitors at 10:00am Tuesday September 24th at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 111 Island Pond Road, Manchester NH. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
