Obituary: Lucille Sevinor, 96, Married for 71 Years

Lucille Sevinor, 96, was a longtime resident of Marblehead.

Lucille Sevinor, 96, entered into rest on Aug. 1, 2014 at the Leonard Florence Center for Living in Chelsea.

Lucille was the devoted and loving wife of the late Leo Sevinor with whom they shared 71 years of marriage. They married in 1941 and within 3 months thereafter, Leo was drafted into the United States Army where he served as an infantry man and sharpshooter in the Philippines. In all, he served 5 years in the army during which time they were apart and he received numerous medals including the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Bronze Service Star.

Lucille was born June 5, 1918, in Brockton, Mass. and at age six, moved to Hyde Park. She was the daughter of the late Abraham Mezansky and Dorothy (Block) Mezansky. She resided in Marblehead most of her life.

Lucille was a member of Temple Israel in Swampscott and Congregation Shirat Hayam. She was a lifelong member of Temple Israel’s Sisterhood and the Marblehead-Swampscott chapter of Hadassah. She was a volunteer at Salem Hospital.

Lucille was the devoted and loving mother of Dr. Sheldon Sevinor and Ruthann Sevinor and Ralph and Meryl Sevinor and Gary Sevinor and his wife, Lydia. She was the adored grandmother to Cara Fineman and her husband David Sobol, Jared Sevinor and Jordan Sevinor. She was the loving great grandmother to Alexa, Dylan, and Gavin Sobol of Wellesley. She was also the cherished sister of Jeanette and Alan Ablow, the late Bernard mason and Eugene Mezansky.

“Lucille had a knack for making everybody who came into her life feel important, beautiful and cherished. There was no one like her and there never will be”, said Dr. Sevinor.

Services were at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin St. Salem, on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at noon. Interment followed at the Temple Israel section of Congregation Shirat Hayam Cemetery, Lowell St., Peabody.

Memorial observance will be held in honor of Lucille Sevinor at Woodbridge Assisted Living, 240 Lynnfield St. Peabody, until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Lucille’s memory may be donated to All Care Hospice, Development Office, 210 Market St., Lynn, MA 01901.
