Path Clearing For Landfill Capping

Selectmen approved temporary construction easement takings Wednesday, helping clear the way for work this fall capping the former landfill and opening a transfer station.

The takings were approved at this year's Town Meeting.

The easements are good for two years and will allow for work such as placing hay bales for erosion control and for soil removal.

The owners of the taken lands receive payments ranging from $500 to $2,000, the amounts commensurate with the size of the easements.

The old landfill is located on Green Street and near Beacon Street.
