Traveling Exhibit On Stamp Tax Crisis Comes To Abbot Library

A traveling exhibit on the stamp tax crisis of 1765 will come to the Abbot Library.

MARBLEHEAD, MA – The Road to Revolution: The Stamp Tax Crisis of 1765: A Traveling Exhibit provided by the Commonwealth Museum will come to the Abbot Public Library on Aug. 2. The exhibit will run through Aug. 30, and covers the Stamp Act, which when put into effect in 1765, created a new, internal tax that had affected mot colonists, according to the event listing.

King George III put the tax into effect to pull revenue from the colonies, which sparked spirited protests over taxation without representation. The exhibit will be in the Carten Gallery.
