Walk Your Dog for a Good Cause

Chances are you take your cellphone with you when you walk your pup. If that’s true, you’re one smartphone app away from raising money for Friends of Marblehead’s Abandoned Animals.

Your local animal shelter is just one of thousands of shelters listed in the Wooftrax Walk for a Dog iPhone and Android app.

“WoofTrax, through the Walk for a Dog mobile app, creates fundraising opportunities for shelters and rescues while encouraging dogs and their humans to exercise together regularly,” reads the Wooftrax website.

Here’s how it works:

• Download the app to your iPhone or Android device.
• Select Friends of Marblehead’s Abandoned Animals from the list of participating shelters.
• Next time you walk Fido, take your phone with you and press the “Start walking for...” button when you begin your jaunt.
• When you stop walking, a donation will be automatically credited to your selected shelter.

It’s that simple. Do get walking. Your dog, and hundreds of other dogs and cats, will thank you.
