MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Florida-based developer is seeking permission to build a 188-unit apartment complex along the Boston Post Road in Marlborough. The complex would be built on a 28-acre parcel formerly owned by a Maryland company.

Boca Raton-based Waypoint Residential presented its plans to the Marlborough City Council this week. The Council has scheduled a public hearing for June 8 on the development.

The developer is seeking a special permit from City Council for the building, which would be called Volaris Marlborough.

"We propose a high-end residential project, consisting of 188 multifamily units, accessory parking, open space, landscaping, and walking trails," Waypoint attorney Brian Falk wrote in a letter to City Council recently.

If approved, Volaris would occupy one of the few open spaces left along the Post Road between downtown and the Sudbury border. The development sits in between a mobile home park, the Princeton Green apartments, and directly across the street from the Villages of Marlborough East 55+ community.

The Marlborough building would be Waypoint's first in New England. The company has buildings in New Jersey, Maryland, and throughout Southeast states.
