8 Marlborough Students Picked For Prestigious Art Display
Under the theme this year of "Building Community Through Art," students grades K through 12 from across Massachusetts have been selected.
MARLBOROUGH, MA—Eight students' art work from the Marlborough schools was chosen for the prestigious annual art display at the State Transportation Building in Boston.
The Council for Art Education (CFAE) administers Youth Art Month (YAM), which encourages support for quality school art programs and promotes art material safety.
Under the theme this year of "Building Community Through Art," students grades K through 12 from across Massachusetts have been selected to have their artwork displayed at the State Transportation Building in Boston. This exhibit, sponsored by the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA), is part of Youth Art Month (YAM), a national celebration held each year during March, that emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages support for quality art programs in schools.

Under the direction of art teachers Valerie Sophos and Laura Douglas, here are the Marlborough students represented in this year’s YAM Exhibit at the State Transportation Building.

The Boston exhibit, Building Community Through Art is a statewide YAM Exhibit in Massachusetts and features student work from more than 90 communities. The exhibit will be on display and open to the public weekdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Feb. 5 to March 27. It is closed weekends and Presidents’ Day 2/19/18) Admission is free.

“MPS congratulates our students who were selected for this Exhibit and all the other students who entered their work,” stated Julie Baker, supervisor of visual arts, in a statement.
