Chelsea Man Is Victim In Fatal I-495 Collision In Marlborough

The 33-year-old driver hit the back of a tractor-trailer that had slowed down near the Simarano Drive exit, police said.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A box truck driver from Chelsea has been identified as the victim in Monday's fatal collision along I-495 in Marlborough, according to state police.

According to police, 42-year-old victim slammed into the back of a tractor trailer that had slowed down in the southbound lanes near the Simarano Drive exit. The 33-year-old tractor-trailer driver, who is from western Michigan, was looking for a place to stop to fix a blown out tire, police said.

"For reasons unknown at this time a 2018 Isuzu box truck crashed into the rear of the tractor trailer causing fatal injuries to the operator," state police said in a news release.

The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt, police. Police did not immediately release the names of the two drivers involved in the collision.
