Disturbance Leads To Animal Cruelty Charges For Homeless Man

A man living in his car couldn't care for his puppy, according to police.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—A call about a disturbance in a parking lot led to animal cruelty charges for a homeless man in Marlborough.

On Tuesday, July 31, shortly after 3 p.m., police were called to 611 Stevens St. Running a check on the man in the car, Anthony Geanisis-Curtis had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Police said during the encounter they learned that Geanisis-Curtis was living out of his vehicle with an 18-week-old puppy. The puppy showed signs of being neglected, including that his ribs showed.

The dog hadn't eaten in a few days, and Geanisis-Curtis told police he couldn't afford to buy dog food.

Geaninsis-Curtis, 19, was arrested on a charge of cruelty to animals for failure to provide food and proper shelter.

Animal Control picked up the dog and continues to care for the pup pending court charges.
