Fire Closes I-495 Exit Ramps To Route 20; Heavy Delays

MARLBOROUGH, MA- An early morning fire caused heavy traffic delays for commuters on I-495 and Route 20, Thursday.

Marlborough police got a call at 6:34 a.m. about smoke coming from the back of the Thomas Energy Center gas station at 175 Lakeside Avenue.

The hydrant closest to the structure was located across the street, forcing crews to shut down I-495 North and South to Route 20 Eastbound to handle the fire. The exits leading to Route 20 from I-495 were also closed.

Marlborough police said there were no injuries reported and the roads and ramps were reopened around 9:47 a.m.

According to CBS Boston Northbound delays stretched all the way to Milford.
