Golf Entertainment Center Aims To Open In Marlborough
A new X-Golf center is being considered for a shopping plaza near Apex Entertainment.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Southborough-based entertainment company is trying to bring a new golf recreation facility to Marlborough, which would be the third in the area.
The developer Edgewood Entertainment has asked for permission to open an X-Golf facility at the shopping plaza at 229 Boston Post Road West, which is across from the Apex Entertainment center. There is one other X-Golf locations nearby in Wayland.
The Marlborough X-Golf would have seating for about 100 people, eight golf simulators and a bar area, according to plans. The facility would be located next to Sullivan Tire in a former Mattress Firm store.

X-Golf is based in Los Angeles and specializes in making golf virtual reality simulators. The company also offers franchise agreements, and claims 25 X-Golf locations across the U.S.
"Our R & D department has spent over 15 years engineering a sophisticated combination of laser, light, impact and camera sensory technologies to collect raw data at and around the impact zone," the company says of its golf simulators. "Combined with incredible computing power and custom-built 3D graphics software, X-Golf is the smartest kid in class."

The Marlborough City Council still has to approve a special zoning permit for the facility. The proposal was sent to the Council's Urban Affairs Committee at Monday's meeting.
