Ryan Gagne, CEO and owner of Venture X Marlborough tells Patch more about the affordable and inviting workspace in this exclusive one-on-one:

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Gagne: We recently opened here in Marlborough and the interest so far has been fantastic. Venture X itself is a franchise, originated in Naples, FL by the Diamond family in 2012. Brett Diamond had witnessed the increase in co-working while in California and brought the concept back to Florida. In 2016, the Diamonds partnered with Ray Titus and his United Franchise Group to expand Venture X into a worldwide brand and broaden the opportunities for members to work in multiple cities around the globe.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Gagne: I was attracted to Venture X because of my knowledge of the industry from an end-user’s perspective, renting an executive office, as well as from my experience as a residential rental real estate professional.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Gagne: Flexible, affordable, convenient, tasteful and inviting.

Patch: What kinds of companies and workers would find your space an ideal workplace?

Gagne: Great question! Honestly, many companies find Venture X the perfect place because of our flexibility to solve their workspace situation. Whether it be someone who works from home, a small startup or even a large sized company, Venture X provides all of the tools necessary for a successful workspace. Not only do we help keep the costs down when it comes to a workspace and as a membership-based solution, no leases are involved and we take the hassle of managing the workspace out of their day.

Patch: What exactly do you provide when it comes to the workspace?

Gagne: We provide fully furnished workspaces—from a space for one to a set of offices for many— equipped with high-speed Wifi and Ethernet access, fully stocked coffee lounge area and technology-rich meeting rooms, all in a simple price package. We manage the day to day so members here can focus on what is most important to them: their business!

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Gagne: The largest challenge to date is growing the awareness of the business, our product and services, as well as eliminating some stereotypes of the industry. Co-working or shared spaces is a concept that has started to increase in popularity over traditional rented office space because of its flexibility and collaborative elements.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Gagne: I find my business most satisfying when I can solve a workspace need for a member and make their day just that much better. Whatever the problem is when it comes to a workspace, size, costs, term or lease, Venture X seeks out the solution that makes the most sense and cents for our members.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Gagne: Venture X and our community of members all share a desire to do the right thing for our businesses and communities— whether that’s through ethical business practices, socially and environmentally sustainable strategies or giving back. Venture X believes that we all deserve to work in an environment that promotes health, well-being and a high quality of life and we strive to make that a fundamental differentiator to our competition.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Gagne: My best piece of advice that I have been given to succeed is: “Failures shouldn’t be looked at as a bad thing, failures are just showing you the ways to not do things a second time.”

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Gagne: My newest and current endeavor is Venture X Marlborough – Apex Center. I am working fast and feverishly with the team here to provide the place where everyone will want to come to work.
