Irish Man Pleads Guilty to Misusing a Social Security Numer

An Irish citizen living in Marlborough admitted to using another man's social security number to obtain a driver's license.

MARLBOROUGH, MA - An Irish citizen living in Marlborough pleaded guilty to misusing a social security number in Boston’s U.S. District Court earlier this week, the Department of Justice said.

Francis J. Moloney fraudulently obtained the driver’s license of an Irish national and former permanent legal resident by using his identity and social security number on March 20, 2013, the Department of Justice said.

The person whose identity Maloney used had renounced his citizenship and returned to Ireland, according to the Department of Justice.

The charge calls for a sentence of no greater than five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. The Department of Justice said federal crimes typically receive less than the maximum sentence.
