Marlborough Adult Day Care Fined Over Billing Practices: AG

Attorney General Maura Healey announced a settlement with adult care facilities in Marlborough and Lowell over improper Medicaid billing.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough adult day care facility was one of two facilities fined by the state this week over allegations they billed MassHealth improperly.

Attorney General Maura Healey said she levied a combined $1 million in fines against Marlborough's Fun Life Adult Day Care and Monarch Elder Care in Lowell.

Healey said the two facilities billed MassHealth for services that "were not provided or that were in excess of permissible billing practices." For example, the facilities billed MassHealth for more hours than clients spent in day programs, the AG's office said.
