Local Roots NE is aiming to open a store at 910 Boston Post Road East.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough City Council on Monday gave a green light to the city's third adult-use cannabis retailer.
Local Roots NE applied for a special permit to open a store at 910 Boston Post Road East in July, and the Council unanimously approved the permit on Monday night.
According to documents submitted to City Council, Local Roots NE would operate a 1,885 square-foot space with 25 parking spots. The location would be in a mostly industrial area across the street from Hager Pond.

This is the second special permit for a cannabis retailer in recent months. The Council signed off on a permit for Vedi Naturals in late August. That retailer will open at the Twin Boro Crossing shopping plaza, 505 Boston Post Road, with a 2,350 square-foot store.
Garden Remedies was the first cannabis retailer to open in Marlborough in 2019. The retailer also went before City Council on Monday seeking permission to keep its store open until 10 p.m. No decision was made pending a discussion in the Council's Urban Affairs Committee.
