New Free Coronavirus Testing Site Open In Marlborough

An appointment-only site opened on Saturday at the Best Western in Marlborough.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Marlborough over the weekend gained back a free Stop the Spread coronavirus testing site.

AFC Urgent Care is now providing free appointment-only testing at the Best Western Royal Plaza Trade Center, 181 Boston Post Road West. The site will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Marlborough had two Stop the Spread sites up until Dec. 17, when a site run by AIDS Project Worcester closed.

Marlborough Hospital has kept a Stop the Spread site at the New England Sports Center, 121 Donald Lynch Boulevard, open throughout December and January. The Marlborough Hospital site offers drive-up testing only.

As of Friday, Marlborough's citywide positive test rate was hovering at 8.4 percent, and the city was adding about 69 new cases per day per 100,000 people. Since the first coronavirus case was detected in Massachusetts one year ago, 3,858 Marlborough residents have tested positive and 97 have died due to COVID-19.
