Marlborough Will Hold In-Person Memorial Day Event
Marlborough's usual Memorial Day parade won't happen in 2021, but there will be a public ceremony.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — Memorial Day ceremonies will return to Marlborough this weekend following last year's cancellations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Memorial Day, Marlborough officials will hold a service outside City Hall near the Vietnam and Korean War memorials. There will be a speaking program, and the public is welcome to attend.
Following the City Hall service, attendees can cross Main Street to visit the WWI and other veterans memorials outside the Walker Building.

In 2020, Marlborough cancelled the usual Memorial Day parade due to the pandemic.
The pandemic will effectively end on Saturday in Massachusetts. That's when Gov. Charlie Baker is lifting almost every pandemic mandate, from restrictions on gatherings in restaurants to the mask order (masks will still be required under certain circumstances, like in hospitals and on public transportation). Baker will lift the coronavirus state-of-emergency order on June 15.

The number of active coronavirus cases in Marlborough was at 31 as of Monday. Two months ago, there were nearly 100 active cases in the city.
The 2021 Memorial Day service in Marlborough will begin at 11 a.m. Monday.
