Mass Pike, I-495 Interchange Overhaul To Have Public Hearing

MassDOT will host a forum this week on a proposed redo of the ramps connecting I-495 and the Mass Pike.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — MassDOT will host a public meeting this week to review a proposed design for the new interchange between the Mass Pike and I-495. The proposal calls for building several new ramps between the two highways in an effort to reduce backups and collisions.

According to the current design, MassDOT is planning to eliminate the circular ramps on the northwest side of the Mass Pike, and one to the east of I-495 south of the pike. Those will be replaced with more direct connections between the two highways.

The state is also planning to build new bridges, including a new Fruit Street crossing, and an auxiliary lane from I-495 to Route 9. MassDOT expects to begin construction on the project by 2022, and finish by 2026 or 2027.
