Pair Charged with Stealing More than $1,000 in Target Merchandise

Merchandise was stolen from two Marlborough Target stores on the same day.

Police arrested two people Saturday after they were reportedly found to be in possession of more than $1,000 in merchandise from Target.

Police responded to the Target on Donald J. Lynch Boulevard shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday where two alleged shoplifters were being held. Police reports state the shoplifters — Brooke A. Emond, 20, of 103 Cook Lane and Evan Gerard Murray, 22, of 27 Sunset Drive in Northborough — had attempted to steal $729.97 in merchandise from Target. Murray had also taken $409.97 in merchandise earlier that day from the Target on Boston Post Road, according to court documents.

In the car, police found 3 shaped metal tools used to defeat retail security tags and a license that was reportedly stolen in July from Conway, New Hampshire. The pair was charged with two counts of larceny over $250, conspiracy, possessing burglarious instrument, receiving more than $250 in stolen property and receiving less than $250 in stolen property. Murray was also charged with larceny under $250.
