Snow job by Marlborough Public Works for senior citizens
Plow puts wall of snow blocking mail delivery

After this recent snow storm my husband who is 74 years old shoveled the driveway and a path to the mailbox so the carrier could get in. Like they always do, the city plow came by and this time the snow dump was worse than usual. While some of it was across the driveway, there was also a wall of snow out in the street, off my property (see photo). My husband was too exhausted to go back out and he would have been in a dangerous situation trying to shovel so far out in the street.
So today I called the Public Works street department and explained that I didn't think the mail could get through or maybe even the garbage trucks would have problems tomorrow. I was told something would be done. A few hours later a plow came by, shaved a few inches off the street side of the wall, most of which went flying onto the area where the path to the mail box was and where we had part of the driveway cleared to go out. The major part of the wall is still there. I told the post office and they said they would have to hold the mail if they couldn't get in. I don't need a trip to the post office and what am I paying taxes for? With all the recent grants the city has to improve Marlborough, can't they allocate some of it for better street cleaning?
